My black nature,
a curse for some hopeless creature.
I glorify in its pure darkness,
I am nobody’s pawn.
Deep from the African bowel
surged forth this charcoal lump,
ransomed from a toil unfolded
because as yet unborn.
A load to bear nonetheless.
Even after ‘PENDENCE,
an unsubtle weight to feel,
due to his subtle deals.
Not immune to the “tumbu”
of some fly’s spittle,
A feverish 1havoc in the dawn
or when the rays go down.
Still, it’s pride itself bundled
Beneath every sinew
That rocks and swells and tumbles
With the sounds and thumps of the jungle.

Meaning, "a person who does not know where they came from, would not know where they are going to". But we know where we are going to, because we know where we came from, the original seat of knowledge and civilization for all mankind!
